VALSAVARENCHE, THE WILD SIDE OF THE PNGP

2 DAYS IN VALSAVARENCHE

Valsavarenche is perhaps the most evocative valley of the Gran Paradiso National Park, among those found in Valle d'Aosta: characterized by the deep and narrow incision of the Savara torrent, it has very steep and inhospitable slopes, densely populated by wild animals that find an ideal refuge in the cliffs that are hardly accessible to Man.

The first part of the valley is really sad at any time of year, and in winter it never beats the sun; as you climb through small fractions miraculously still inhabited, and when you arrive at the village capital, you find yourself in one of the ugliest villages in the Valle d'Aosta, where moreover 'Man has not known building in harmony with the landscape, and many buildings, some even abandoned, remain as sad skeletons to testify what has been affirmed. Only reached at the top, in Pont, we overlook a wide-ranging plateau, which houses a beautiful cross-country track.

Despite all this, or perhaps for this reason, the Valsavarenche is a valley with a wild, hard and spectacular charm, enchanting in all seasons of the year, and also represents an easy access to the fantastic Nivolet plateau, or the peak of the Gran Paradiso, or other many destinations.

The flora and fauna of this valley, to know how to reach and recognize, are a wonderful surprise, an example of biodiversity still very rich and protected, in part, just from the hospitality and the low tourist interest that affect the whole valley. Only the Piedmont side of the national park has similarities with the wild Valsavarenche.
