ITINERARY

Fascinating excursion to discover the Art Village of Chemp, and possibly the other villages of the Valley of Nantay, and visit the Perloz Resistance Museum.

Chemp is one of the most hidden villages in blocks of the Nantay valley, all formed by small groups of houses characterized by architectural solutions that recall the typical houses of the nearby Canavese, surrounded by vegetation and mostly abandoned. Up until now, these small hamlets have not experienced major building restoration works which, on the one hand, save them from decay, from the top they slightly diminish their authenticity. You could also go up by car, but it is more beautiful to reach the village on foot from the old paved mule track coming from Nantay, another characteristic and somewhat forgotten village.

The Art Village of Chemp owes its further charm to the fact that it has been transformed into an open-air museum.

After seeing Chemp we will go up to the Glacière Mill, renovated but no longer in business.

The return will take place by first reaching the inhabited hamlet of Marine and then Perloz, where after eating we will visit the small but beautiful Museum of the Resistance and the medieval press.

Historical-architectural aspects

Chemp's architecture is characterized by traditional houses, among which stands out a small two-story racard and a nearby house with a double arcade with stone arches. The denomination "Village of Art of Chemp" is reported on a wrought iron sign placed at the end of the asphalted road coming from Marine. The medieval press is beautiful.
